COASTAL INSPIRED
ORIGINAL PAINTINGS & PRINTS

Astrid Trügg is a Dutch artist based in North Berwick, Scotland. Her still life paintings explore the shape and history of objects that inspire her. Her distinctive technique, using collage, pigments and gesso, creates vibrant colours and fascinating textures.

Sardine tins, sea salt and lemons, jugs on a quiet table: contemporary still life paintings in gesso, dry pigment and beeswax.

The harbour, the fishing boats, the tide going out at West Bay: coastal paintings from the shore at North Berwick.

A selection of limited edition giclée prints, taken from original artworks.

A woman in overalls holds a framed painting of lemons. She is outdoors next to a stone wall with three other framed paintings on it. On the ground and table are various vintage watering cans and bottles, some with lemons. A large still life painting featuring lemons, fish, and kitchen utensils is propped against the ground.

Astrid’s Inspiration

A tin of sardines, a jug of mimosa, a few sunny lemons. These are some of the things I love to paint using gesso, dry pure pigments, collage and beeswax on panel. Sometimes still lifes and sometimes the tide going out at West Bay. Fish, lobsters and shellfish are my muse.

I like to capture those small, joyful moments. Dinner with friends, ready and set on the table. A vase full of freshly cut olive branches. Finds from a beach walk. A Mediterranean scene. If you’d like to commission a painting in my style, just contact me with an idea.
