COMMISSIONS
A commission is a painting made for you, in Astrid’s own style, with the same materials and the same way of working as the pieces in the studio and in the galleries. Sometimes a still life of objects that matter to you, sometimes a scene from a place you love, sometimes a thing you have brought back from a trip and would like to keep on a wall.
The starting point can be photographs, a written description, an object lent to the studio for a while, or just a feeling about a colour or a subject. Astrid paints in her own visual language: still lifes set out on a table, jugs and bowls and tins, fish or shellfish on a plate, sometimes a stretch of coast. The painting will find its place alongside the rest of her work naturally.
Getting started is simple. Send a note with what you are after, with as much or as little detail as you have, and Astrid will get back to you with a feel for whether the idea is a good fit, and a few words on size. Once size, scope and timing are agreed, the painting begins. She usually shares a photograph or two along the way, and the finished piece is wrapped and sent out from the studio. Framing in her hand-painted, beeswax-finished style is available if you would like it.
Pricing follows the size and complexity of the painting, in line with the originals already on the website, and is agreed and confirmed before any work begins. The first reply will give a sense of when your piece could be ready, depending on what is already on the easel.
Drop a message below, to my email astridtrugg@yahoo.co.uk or through the contact page with what you have in mind. Astrid is happy to hear from you at any stage of an idea, whether it is clear in your mind or just starting to take shape.
