When the snow came, the view across the water turned pale and quiet, with the island sitting low on the horizon and the trees along the wall stripped back to their winter shapes. The sea held its deep blue, but everything around it seemed softened by the weather, as if the day had been washed down to its bones. It was a still moment, all cold light and muted colour, kept here now as part of the record of Astrid’s work.
Painted on panel in mixed media, built up in gesso and dry pure pigments, with collage worked in here and there and a final wash of beeswax over the surface. A contemporary coastal painting, now in a private collection and shown here for the archive.
