A plain wooden chair against a deep blue ground, and on its seat the working things of the studio: a white jug with a single blue band holding brushes, pencils and a pair of scissors, a red watering can resting on a sheet of old newspaper, and a small bottle of ink beside a yellow pencil. The room is emptied back to just these, the tools she reaches for every day.
Built up on panel in gesso and dry pigment, with graphite worked into the surface and beeswax washed over at the end. A contemporary still life painting from the studio in North Berwick, one original that exists nowhere else.
