Two silver fish are laid head to tail across a page torn from an old French dictionary, the small print still readable beneath the paint. Below them sit a wire whisk and a paintbrush, the studio quietly creeping into the still life. A small thing, ten centimetres square, made for the pleasure of it.
Painted on panel in gesso and dry pure pigments, with the dictionary page collaged in and beeswax over the top. A contemporary still life painting.
