A small ship under sail, sealed inside a rounded glass bottle with a cork, sits on a weathered table by the sea. Beside it, a glass is crowded with shells, a rolled scrap of paper and a shard of blue‑and‑white china, set down over collaged antique newsprint, with a few mussel shells arranged nearby and two sailing boats on the water behind. The keepsakes of a day by the water, small things kept and looked at again.
Built up on panel in gesso and dry pure pigments, with antique newsprint collaged beneath the surface and a final wash of beeswax over everything. A contemporary coastal still life painting, one original that exists nowhere else.
